Award Detail Information

Name Ted and Cora Browne Memorial Scholarship
Description Ted and Cora Browne resided in Mackenzie between 1979 and 1988. Ted worked as the Chief Forester for Finlay Forest Industries and Cora served on the library board and Community Arts Council, also teaching handweaving at the College of New Caledonia Mackenzie campus. Their time in the region left an impression on them both, inspiring them to create a Legacy Endowment gift with CNC to provide financial relief to students who have to move from their home community to pursue their program of choice. Ted and Cora both had to travel from their family homes in Victoria to attend the University of British Columbia, which was the only option to finish a four-year degree in all of BC until 1963. This award is open to second-year University Transfer and Accounting students at CNC.
