Dr. Mooney was an Honourary Founding Chairman of CNC. Long before there was a college in the north, Dr. Mooney, along with Harold Moffat and other School Trustees from across north-central BC, had a vision for higher education in the region. They formed a Regional College Committee in 1963 to study the feasibility of setting up a college, with Dr. Mooney as chair. Thanks to this "energetic and persistent group" who never took "no" for an answer, they achieved their goal in 1969, when the College of New Caledonia was officially opened. |
