Description | To honour the memory of Phil Richter, his family and friends are pleased to offer an annual bursary to a registered full time, first year Kinesiology Diploma student at the College of New Caledonia, Prince George campus, and who is planning on continuing their education in a sport-related field at a post-secondary institution of their choice. Phil completed his Human Kinetics Diploma at the College of New Caledonia and went on to study Physical Education with a Coaching Concentration in hockey at the University of Alberta. He loved sports and for all that it stood. Phil played, coached and refereed in the Prince George Minor Hockey Association. He was the assistant coach to the University of Alberta's Pandas Hockey team and helped lead them to victory in the 2004 National Championships. Although hockey was Phil's game, he loved every sport: golf, mountain biking, track and field, baseball, rollerblading, rock climbing, curling, and more. Any game, any friend, any time … Phil was always there. |

Eligibility | Open to registered full time, first year Kinesiology Diploma program students, who plan to further their post-secondary education in a sport-related field. Priority will be given to students who have been part of the Prince George Minor Hockey Association. In addition, applicants are to provide a 300-500 word typed essay outlining how they have been involved in sports, why they chose this field of study, and their education and career goals. |
