This award was established in memory of Sadie Merrick, who graduated from the nursing program at Grace Hospital, Toronto, in 1936. She was the former head nurse of medicine, one of the first nurse educators at Prince George Regional Hospital, and assisted with the development of the College of New Caledonia Diploma Nursing program, along with numerous other accomplishments. Mrs. Merrick held a firm belief that post-secondary education should be accessible to anyone with desire to pursue it. The fund was established by her family and friends to ensure students demonstrating her beliefs and values are rewarded. |
